Library Book Care

Many homes today have book collections, if not a sizable library of professional books and journals. It is not uncommon for homeowners to have dozens if not hundreds of books, either scattered around the house or on organized shelves. Unfortunately many of these books become damaged because the owners do not take care of them. Frequently they are stacked on the floor or stored away in boxes in the attic or basement (the worst possible place) rather than on display in the den or reading room. The books we read and keep are really an extension of our personality and should be cared for so they can be enjoyed over and over again or preserved for someone else to enjoy in the future.

It’s been just a year since I started working as the Adult Services Librarian at the Medfield Public Library. A year filled with surprises and enlightenments that I never anticipated when I applied to what looked like a small town public library. I worried, would it keep me busy enough?
